An entrepreneur pioneering Buy Now, Pay Later in India, Lizzie Chapman is the CEO & Co-Founder of ZestMoney - India’s largest and fastest-growing BNPL platform, working with a vision to meaningfully improve the lives of more than 300 million households that currently have no access to credit cards or other formal financing options.
Lizzie started her career as an Investment Manager with the UK-based Wellcome Trust, where she invested in financial services companies in India for over 3 years. She later worked with Goldman Sachs in London for 5 years, before moving to India in 2011 to establish and spread head the operations of digital lender Wonga, one of the biggest fintech companies in the world at the time. In 2014, she joined the Development Bank of Singapore and led the launch of ‘Digibank’, India’s first mobile-app-only bank, before co-founding ZestMoney.
Lizzie currently serves on the boards of IndiaMart (India’s Alibaba) and IndiaQuotient (early-stage investment fund), and is a founding member and current President of the Digital Lending Association of India (DLAI). She was featured in the “LinkedIn Top Voices 2019: Finance & Economy” and figured in the list of Fintech Magazine’s “Top 100 Women in Fintech Globally”.
A leading figure in the Indian fintech landscape, Lizzie has been nominated by the Government of India to its National Startup Council, where she advises the government on measures to foster and boost innovation in the country’s startup ecosystem.
Lizzie was also honoured with the ‘Woman Ahead’ award at the Economic Times (ET) Startup Awards in 2021. She was also a recipient of the prestigious ‘Woman Leader in Fintech’ in 2017 and 2019.
A CFA charter holder and BSc from Edinburgh University, Lizzie has been instrumental in driving the adoption of digital finance and financial inclusion initiatives in India. Currently based in Bengaluru, she is also an avid traveler and a passionate runner and has been a part of several marathons.
