Terry Bilverstone, Ph. D., is a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences (Clinical Microbiology) at The Open University, since October 2023. Previously, Terry served as a Junior Editor for Letters in Applied Microbiology at Applied Microbiology International from September 2023 to November 2025, and as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham from September 2014 to October 2023, focusing on a complex genetic engineering project for a leading pharmaceutical company. Terry also held the position of Project Manager for the final year of the €4 million EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD Innovative Training Network (ITN), CLOSPORE, dedicated to understanding endospore formation in Clostridium species. Terry completed a PhD in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Nottingham, with research emphasizing Clostridium difficile, a major cause of hospital-associated diarrhoea in the developed world. Terry's academic background includes an MRes in Brewing Science and a BSc in Microbiology, both from the University of Nottingham.
