Jim Grant

Principal Mechanical Engineer at CMR Surgical

Jim Grant has a diverse and extensive work experience. Jim started their career in 2006 at BAE Systems as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, where they worked on various product lines and oversaw mechanical design within projects. In 2011, they joined Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) as an Opto-Mechanical Systems Engineer and later became a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer. During their time at SSTL, they played a lead role in the mechanical design process for the SWIR spectrometer as part of the TROPOMI instrument on the European Space Agency's Sentinel 5 Precursor mission. Since 2015, they have been working at CMR Surgical, initially as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and later as a Staff Mechanical Engineer. Currently, they hold the position of Principal Mechanical Engineer at CMR Surgical.

Jim Grant holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering, which they completed from the University of Nottingham in the period of 2002-2006. Jim also participated in an ERASMUS Semester Abroad program in 2005 at the Institut national des Sciences appliquées de Lyon, focusing on Mechanical Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Jim has obtained certifications in "Architecture and Systems Engineering: Models and Methods to Manage Complex Systems" from MIT xPRO (2022) and the "Chartered Engineer" certification from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (2015).
