Sujit Bhattacharya has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Sujit began their career in 1989 at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), where they served as a Senior R&D Engineer and Project Manager for various satellite projects. During this time, they played a key role in developing signal processing hardware for on-board processing using space-qualified FPGA and ASIC technology.
After their tenure at ISRO, Bhattacharya worked as a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast, where they focused on architecture and implementations of complex dynamic systems. Sujit'sresearch resulted in the development of a novel dataflow framework for efficient system-level synthesis of signal processing algorithms on FPGA.
Bhattacharya later joined Imperial College London, where they served as a Spacecraft FPGA Design Engineer and Research Associate. In these roles, they were responsible for designing and delivering space-qualified electronics sub-systems for ESA's SolarOrbiter satellite. Sujit also conducted research and development on data representation and optimization techniques for FPGA-based platforms.
In 2014, Bhattacharya joined Blighter Surveillance Systems Ltd as a Radar Systems Design Authority. Sujit was responsible for the system design of radar, including antenna modeling, waveform design, and DSP algorithms development. Sujit also contributed to the design of novel radar models and features.
Bhattacharya continued their career as a Principal Engineer at Evonetix Ltd, where they worked on advanced engineering projects. Sujit then served as a Principal Consultant at Awerian (TTP Group), offering expert guidance and solutions to clients in various industries.
In 2020, Bhattacharya founded Cambridge Innovation Foundation (CiF), focusing on STEM mentoring and EdTech. Sujit also founded and served as CEO of Cambridge Digital Consultancy (CamDiCon), providing safety and mission-critical FPGA IPs and signal processing algorithms with a focus on space and military standards. CamDiCon Academy, affiliated with CamDiCon, offers high-quality training and mentoring in signal processing, machine learning, and electronics design.
Most recently, Bhattacharya joined CMR Surgical as the Lead DSP & FPGA Engineer, contributing their expertise in digital signal processing and FPGA technology.
Throughout their career, Bhattacharya has demonstrated a strong background in engineering, signal processing, and FPGA design, with a particular focus on space and mission-critical applications.
Sujit Bhattacharya completed their education with the following degrees: a Ph.D in Signal Processing from The University of Edinburgh (2005-2009), an ME in Signal Processing from the Indian Institute of Science (1999-2001), and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (1985-1989). Sujit also obtained a PGDOM in Operation Research from Indira Gandhi National Open University (2009-present) and completed their XII in Science from Kendriya Vidyalaya Charbatia (1973-1985). In addition to their academic degrees, they have obtained several certifications in various fields, including Micro:bit Champion and STEM club management.
