John R. Dolan is a Senior Research Scientist at CNRS, specializing in marine ecology, plankton, and microbial biodiversity since 1993. They served as Bulletin Editor for ASLO from 2008 to 2014 and were a Participating Scientist with Tara Oceans from 2009 to 2011. Dolan has also held editorial positions, including Associate Editor for the Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology and Editor in Chief for the Journal of Plankton Research. They are currently a taxonomic editor for the World Register of Marine Species and are pursuing multiple advanced degrees, including a Ph.D. in Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences from the University of Maryland College Park.
