James Kappen

James Kappen is a seasoned professional in commercial real estate and technology entrepreneurship. Currently serving as Principal at Coastland Partners since February 2022, Kappen focuses on acquiring commercial real estate across the Midwest and aims to provide investors with strong returns and reliable cash flow. Prior to this role, Kappen founded Proposable, a company that improved the efficiency of sales document processes, which was acquired in 2021. Additionally, Kappen co-founded APTEXX, Inc., which modernized rent collection for property management companies before its acquisition in 2018. Kappen also established Kima Communications, which publishes the Santa Barbara Homeowner Magazine, highlighting the local community's architecture and artists. Kappen holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Accounting from UC Santa Barbara, obtained between 2004 and 2006.
