Dan Hegwood

General Counsel at Cockroach Labs

Dan Hegwood is the current General Counsel at Cockroach Labs. Prior to their current position, Dan held various legal positions at Xandr, AppNexus, and Amazon. Dan began their career as a Judicial Clerk at The Supreme Court of the State of New York before moving on to corporate legal positions.

At Xandr, Dan was responsible for leading a global team of attorneys supporting Xandr's rapidly expanding international businesses and operations. Dan was also responsible for establishing Xandr's public policy function, focusing on privacy (CCPA, GDPR, and ePrivacy), advertising, and competition matters.

At AppNexus, Dan served as VP, Head Commercial Counsel and was responsible for all commercial legal matters, including drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.

At Amazon, Dan served as Corporate Counsel for the Appstore & Cloud Drive. In this role, they provided legal advice and support for the development and launch of new products and features.

Dan is a skilled attorney with experience in many different legal areas. Dan has a proven track record of success in supporting businesses in their growth and expansion.

Dan Hegwood attended the University of Virginia School of Law and received a Juris Doctor. Prior to that, they attended Binghamton University and received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in English.
