Minnar Xie

Senior Service Designer at Code for America

Minnar is a service designer & design researcher passionate about working towards a society where all people feel dignity and belonging, and equitable outcomes are the standard. Her approach reflects her interdisciplinary education in fine art, anthropology, psychology, and human-computer interaction, and her belief that everything connects.

Previously, she has worked at Doblin (Deloitte’s innovation consultancy) helping to facilitate human-centered design for governments and private sector organizations, a design researcher at an early-stage startup working to build social infrastructure in cities through pop-up art performances, and a Canadian research & evaluation organization focused on helping publicly-funded pilot programs iterate their program design. In all contexts, her work aims to center the impact on people’s lived experiences: be it for resettled refugees, jobseekers, social assistance benefits recipients, youth impacted by violence, and all the frontline staff who support them.

She grew up outside Los Angeles (where she lives again now!), spent formative years in Pittsburgh, and grew into herself in Toronto.
