Joy Rutledge is an accomplished individual currently serving as a Makers Fellow at Spelman Innovation Lab, where engagement in technical advancements of the YardSell project and the implementation of agile development methodologies are key responsibilities. Joy has held various roles, including Software Engineer Intern at Salesforce and Sustainable Spelman Intern at Spelman College, exploring the intersections of food justice and sustainability. As a Food Studies Scholar, Joy was selected for an inaugural cohort focused on innovative interdisciplinary topics. Previous experiences include significant internships with KITT Labs and the University of California, Berkeley, where Joy developed remote sensing algorithms and honed technical skills in web application deployment. Joy's participation in the HBCU Founders Initiative culminated in winning a pitch competition that secured funding for YardSell. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Spelman College, Joy will graduate in May 2025.
