We deliver industry-vetted courses and career support centered on the needs of Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, and low-income students. About the Role 

Location: Remote, United States

Reports To: VP of Development 

Compensation: $135,000-$175,000 per year

CodePath is seeking a Director of Institutional Giving to manage and expand CodePath’s institutional partnerships to help further CodePath's mission to revolutionize computer science education. As part of CodePath’s $200M, 5-year Campaign launching in fall of 2024, you will be tasked with managing and cultivating our multi-million dollar portfolio of funders to secure annual financial resources at both national and regional levels to support CodePath’s mission, ongoing operations, and strategic initiatives. Additionally you will be responsible for an annual revenue target through effective identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts by engaging with high-capacity private and corporate foundations in the six-figure+ range.

Our ideal candidate for the Director of Institutional Giving has a strong passion for our mission and is an experienced fundraising professional with an exceptional ability to collaborate with various high-level stakeholders and create impact at scale. The Director of Institutional Giving will also supervise a small team of grant managers in order to best execute on the team goals and strategy. 

In this role you will leverage our communications strategy and narrative to further our impact as we share CodePath’s story of reprogramming higher education and the stories of our 25,000+ students who have overcome systemic barriers to access the tech industry .

Key Activities

Institutional Giving Development and Strategy 

  • Manage and grow our multi-million dollar portfolio of private foundations and corporate philanthropy from $20M+ to $26M+ in 2025, including renewed and new funding opportunities.

  • Cultivate and prospect relationships with new and existing mission-aligned funders, including foundation program officers and key foundation leadership, to successfully secure investments in the six- to eight-figure range to support the annual goal and $200M campaign 

  • Represent CodePath by traveling to conferences, funder meetings, and other external events to enhance our visibility and build relationships with institutional donors (5-10% travel depending on seasonality) 

Department Leadership and Communication 

  • Design and execute large institutional fundraising opportunities in collaboration with the Senior Director of Development, VP of Development, senior leaders, and key functional team leaders

  • Directly manage a team of grants managers and grant writers to develop compelling proposals, track deliverables, and maintain compliance with grant terms

  • Collaborate cross functionally, including:

    • Work closely with program staff to understand funding needs and develop comprehensive proposals

    • Coordinate with finance and administration teams to develop budgets for proposals and ensure accurate financial reporting to funders to detail the impact of their support and the organization’s achievements

    • Collaborate with the communications team to create materials that support institutional fundraising efforts

Data Management 

  • Maintain accurate records and tracking of the institutional pipeline in our CRM database Monitor and evaluate the success of institutional fundraising efforts and our donor management system, using data and metrics to refine strategies and decision making across our portfolio

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of development experience working with institutional donors in a frontline fundraising role

  • Demonstrated experience and success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding 6- and 7-figure gifts from private foundation and corporate funders 

  • Deep knowledge of institutional fundraising landscape and trends

  • Proven relationship management skills to build strong, long-term relationships with institutional donors and prospects

  • Exceptional project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities effectively

  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferable Qualifications

  • Experience using a CRM, Hubspot a plus

  • Technical proficiency a major plus (i.e. former CS student, has coding/programming experience or a tech enthusiast, i.e. you enjoy reading WIRED magazine and immersing yourself in the latest tech trends)

  • Tech startup experience also a plus

Pay range
$135,000$175,000 USD
