Hiranya Samarasekera

Country Head / Senior Vice President of Engineering at Codice

Hiranya Samarasekera has a wealth of work experience, beginning with their role as a Software Engineer at Aziolanka (Pvt) Ltd. in 2001. Hiranya then moved on to become a Software Architect at eBuilder Technology Centre in 2004, and a Visiting Lecturer at the Australian College of Business & Technology (ACBT) in 2011. In 2012, they became the Vice President, Engineering, Senior Director, Engineering and Architecture and Senior Software Architect at Sysco Labs Sri Lanka. In 2017, they were appointed Managing Partner at Equator Venture Partners, and in 2018 they became a Director at the American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka. In 2019, they were appointed Chief Technology Officer at the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka. In 2021, they took on the roles of Principal Advisor at the Ministry of Technology in Sri Lanka, Country Head / Senior Vice President of Engineering at CODICE, and Consulting CTO at EatMe Singapore.

Hiranya Samarasekera is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Systems at the University of Oslo (UiO). Previously, they obtained a Master of Arts in Public Policy with a focus in Economics from O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). In 2008-2009, they completed an MBA in International Business, Economics, Management, Finance & Accounting from Edith Cowan University. Hiranya also holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Edith Cowan University. In addition to their formal education, Hiranya has obtained several certifications, including a Certified Scrum Product Owner from the Scrum Alliance in 2017, R Programming and The Data Scientist\u2019s Toolbox from Coursera Verified Certificates in 2014, a Certified ScrumMaster from Scrum Alliance Inc. in 2011, a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in 2011, a Sun Certified Business Component Developer, J2EE 1.3 from Sun Microsystems in 2004, and a Sun Certified Java Programmer from Sun Microsystems in 2002.
