Richard Brizendine is a Principal Scientist in Enzymology at Cogent Biosciences since July 2022. Previously, Brizendine served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioengineering at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory from October 2020 to June 2022, where research focused on the kinetics of enzymatic depolymerization of plastics and the development of kinetic assays for biocatalysis. Prior experiences include a Postdoctoral Researcher position at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, where novel labeling strategies were utilized to study myosin filament behavior, along with a Graduate Research Assistant role investigating muscle contraction mechanisms and developing a kinetic model for actin-myosin interactions. Richard Brizendine holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno, earned in 2019, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, obtained in 2013.
