Mark Fennell has extensive work experience in the legal field. Mark began their career as a Paralegal at the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project (CBAP) in 2005, where they assisted low-income clients with bankruptcy and debt-related legal concerns. In 2007, they worked as a Summer Clerk for The Hon. David S. Doty, Federal District Court of Minnesota. Mark then joined Choate, Hall & Stewart as a Summer Associate in 2008 and later became a Corporate Attorney from 2010 to 2013.
In 2013, Fennell joined HeartWare Inc as a Senior Counsel, where they represented the company in various legal matters and played a crucial role in the $1.1 billion acquisition by Medtronic. Mark also handled settlement negotiations with an activist shareholder and advised the company on a range of legal issues, including a FDA warning letter and M&A transactions.
Fennell then moved to Medtronic in 2016, where they served as Principal Counsel for MCS until 2017. Mark assisted with legal matters related to the company's heart support devices division.
Currently, Fennell holds the position of VP, Chief "Legalnoid" & Corporate Secretary at Cognex Corporation, a role they acquired in 2020. The precise duration of this role is not provided.
Mark Fennell obtained a J.D. degree in Law from Notre Dame Law School between 2006 and 2009. Prior to that, they completed a B.A. degree in Political Science and Theology at Boston College from 2001 to 2005. In 2003-2004, they participated in a program at the University of Oxford focused on Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE). Mark completed their College Prep education at St. Paul Academy & Summit School from 1995 to 2001.
