Ralph Kern

Ralph Kern has an extensive work experience history. Ralph is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Cognito Therapeutics, Inc. since March 2023. Previously, they held the positions of President and Chief Medical Officer at Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics from April 2020 to February 2023, and EVP, Chief Operating Officer from March 2017 to April 2020.

Before that, Ralph worked at Biogen from August 2015 to February 2017, where they held multiple roles including SVP, Head Worldwide Medical, and VP, Head Global Therapeutic Areas. At Novartis, they served as the VP, Head Neuroscience Medical Unit from October 2014 to March 2015, and VP, Head MS Medical Unit from January 2011 to September 2014.

Ralph also worked at Sanofi Genzyme, where they held the positions of Global Medical Director, Personalized Genetic Health from September 2010 to December 2010, General Manager, Fabry Disease from June 2008 to October 2010, and Head Medical Affairs from 2006 to 2008.

Their earlier experiences include working as a Consultant Neurologist at University Health Network from January 2001 to October 2006, and as the Head University Academic Neurology Program at the University of Toronto from July 2003 to July 2006.

Ralph started their career as the Chief Division of Neurology at Credit Valley Hospital, where they provided leadership and conducted clinical trials for various neurological conditions from 1988 to 2000.

Ralph Kern's education history begins with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurophysiology, which they obtained from McGill University from 1976 to 1978. Ralph then pursued a Doctor of Medicine degree at Queen's University from 1978 to 1982. Following this, they completed an Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Toronto from 1982 to 1984. Ralph went on to join the Neurology Residency Program at McGill University from 1984 to 1987. During the period of 1987 to 1988, they were a Research Fellow in Neuroscience at the Hospital for Sick Children, affiliated with the University of Toronto. Lastly, Ralph obtained a Master of Health Administration degree from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto from 2001 to 2003.
