Baron L. Payne

Baron L. Payne, MBA, CPA has extensive work experience in accounting and financial management roles. Baron L. is currently serving as the Vice President of Accounting/Controller at Cognosante since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked at ASRC Federal from August 2016 to July 2021, where they held various positions including Assistant Controller, Senior Director of General Ledger & Accounting Systems, Director of General Ledger & Accounting Systems, and General Ledger/Cost Analysis Manager. At ASRC Federal, they were responsible for maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions, and creating various financial reports. Baron L. also supported the implementation of the BlackLine accounting tool. Before ASRC Federal, Baron worked as the Professional Services Accounting Manager at Presidio from October 2013 to 2016, and as the Senior Business Unit Accounting Analyst at SAIC from May 2012 to 2013. Baron L. initially started their career at SAIC in 2009 as a Lead Revenue Analyst, managing financial support for a business unit with revenues exceeding $100 million. Prior to this, Baron worked as a Cost Accountant at CSC from March 1998 to 2000, where they audited and processed labor transactions for divisional contracts and provided information on DCAA regulations to project managers.

Baron L. Payne holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from The George Washington University, which they obtained from 2004 to 2006. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting from the Virginia Commonwealth University - School of Business, from 1993 to 1997. Additionally, they are a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), certified by the Maryland State Board of Accountancy in 2001.
