John Hosking

Managing Partner at Cognosis

John has brought sixteen years of client side experience to Cognosis since 2004, covering brand marketing, innovation, consumer planning & proposition development. He became our Managing Partner in 2015.

At Diageo, he managed the marketing of Guinness, played a key role in the development and rollout of ‘The Diageo Way of Brand Building’, and led their first Consumer Planning & Research Function in the UK. After that, he set up a customer proposition function for Barclays Bank. At Cognosis he’s worked internationally across more than 40 markets in drinks, financial services, retail banking, tobacco, hotels & leisure.

John graduated from London University with a degree in Agricultural Business Management, but had the self-perception to realise that if he couldn’t look after a houseplant then he wasn’t cut out to be a farmer. He is a passionate cricket and football fan, attending as many matches as he can. Otherwise, he spends time with his family, where he continues his part-time job as the children’s chauffeur.
