Representing corporate insurance policyholders in disputes, Jason Meyers brings broad and valuable experience to his practice from previous positions in the legal, education, and volunteer arenas. He advises clients seeking to attain maximum recoveries under a wide array of policies, including commercial liability, directors and officers liability, first-party property, professional liability/errors and omissions, employment practices liability, reps and warranties, and cyber.
Always looking down the road, Jason helps clients structure their insurance programs to obtain the most favorable terms possible and to avoid common pitfalls when they bring claims. In the wake of recent events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, severe storms, widespread fires, mass power outages, and government shutdowns, he focuses particularly on ensuring that clients’ property policies provide them with sufficient coverage for business interruption losses.
Jason thoroughly enjoys engaging in dynamic conversations, building relationships, and working closely with clients and other lawyers. As a former high school English teacher, he is highly attuned to the nuances of language and uses his facility with the written word to his clients’ advantage in the contracts, briefs, and other documents he crafts and reviews for them. Jason’s background as an educator enables him to draw out people in group settings, which helps them feel comfortable contributing their input. In addition, clients appreciate his emphasis on quickly providing useful responses to their questions and emails.
Prior to joining the firm, Jason held an associate position at a leading Am Law 100 firm, where he represented large public companies and private equity firms in matters including buy-side and sell-side transactions and public filings with the SEC. In this capacity, he managed due diligence, negotiated agreements, and drafted written consents, engagement letters, payoff letters, escrow agreements, and other documents pertaining to M&A law.
Jason has performed an array of pro bono work such as handling immigration matters for several indigent, refugee, and asylee clients. Passionate about helping others, he has also conducted volunteer work internationally in such countries as Cameroon and Pakistan. Jason previously worked as a judicial intern for both the Hon. Susan D. Wigenton of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Hon. Clayton Greene, Jr., of the Court of Appeals of Maryland.
