Hangyu (John) Lin

Hangyu (John) Lin has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and machine learning. Hangyu (John) is currently a Software Engineer - Machine Learning at Cohere since June 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Wish as a Machine Learning Engineer from September 2021 to June 2022, where they were responsible for designing, creating, training, and integrating image-based neural network models into content moderation flow. Hangyu (John) also worked as a Software Engineer at Wish from December 2021 to September 2021.

Before joining Wish, Hangyu worked at Tencent as a Software Engineer from September 2020 to March 2021. During their time at Tencent, they contributed to the implementation of web crawler python scripts using Selenium and ChromeDriver. Hangyu (John) also worked on REST APIs, new features, and debugging for the web crawler Webapp using Vue.

Hangyu's previous experience includes working at Weill Cornell Medicine as a Full Stack Engineer and Machine Learning Engineer from December 2019 to December 2020. At Weill Cornell Medicine, they designed and developed an end-to-end website using Django web framework and hosted it on AWS. Hangyu (John) also collected raw images and labeled bounding boxes for training machine learning models.

Hangyu started their career as a Software Engineer Intern at Tencent in May 2019 and worked there for two months. Prior to that, they gained experience as an Associate Product Manager at JD.COM from May 2018 to July 2018.

Hangyu (John) Lin obtained a Bachelor's degree in Statistics from the University of Toronto, where they studied from 2014 to 2019. Afterwards, they pursued a Master's degree in Computer and Information Sciences at Cornell Tech, between the years 2019 and 2021.
