John Dang

John Dang is a Research Engineer at Cohere since January 2024, focusing on LLM post-training research in reinforcement learning, multimodality, and multilinguality within the Cohere Labs team. Previously, John held several research and internship positions, including a Student Researcher in the Machine Intelligence Group at UCLA, a Machine Learning Research Intern at Motional, and a Machine Learning Intern at Skydio, with a strong emphasis on AI and reinforcement learning applications. Additionally, experience includes software development roles at Amazon Web Services, research at the Center for AI and Robot Autonomy, and work at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. John holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from UCLA, as well as a Bachelor of Science in the same field.
