Mike Purnell

Senior Vice President Of Engineering at Coherent Logix

Mike Purnell has over 40 years of experience in the software engineering field. Mike began their career in 1980 as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs, where they worked on a team that built the Bellmac-32, the first 32-bit microprocessor. In 1985, they became an Engineering Manager at Silicon Compiler Systems, and in 1988, the company merged with Silicon Compiler, Inc. In 1989, the company was acquired by Mentor Graphics, where they became the Director of Simulation. In 1995, Mike joined Precedence Inc. as the VP of Engineering. Precedence was acquired by Mentor Graphics in the same year. In 1998, Mike co-founded Stage2 Innovations, an EDA company, where they served as President and CEO. Mike developed a compiled code VHDL simulator, which is now owned by Cadence. In 2002, Mike joined Tera Systems as the VP of Engineering. In 2006, they became the Vice President of Software Engineering at Coherent Logix, Inc., where they oversaw the software development tools group and QA teams. Mike held nine US and international patents related to Software Development Flows for multi-core processors.

Mike Purnell completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Stony Brook University between 1976 and 1980. Mike then went on to earn their Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1981.
