Rus Newton

Rus Newton has extensive experience in the commodities industry, with a focus on crude oil trading. Rus started their career at Shell International Trading Company as a Crude Oil Trader from 1987 to 1990. Rus then moved to Shell UK Oil, where they worked as a Senior Crude Oil Trader from 1991 to 1992, managing trading activities for the UK refining and production arm of the company. Rus joined Phibro Energy in 1992 as a Crude Oil Trader and later worked for RheinOel in 1994 in the same capacity.

In 1994, Rus Newton joined JP Morgan as a Commodities Strategist, where they managed the London energy trading desk, traded various commodities globally, and participated in structuring energy and metals deals. Rus stayed with JP Morgan until 1999.

From 1999 to 2016, Rus worked at Global Advisors (Jersey) Limited, where they served as the Owner, Head of Research & System Development, and Portfolio Manager for the Global Commodity Systematic program. Rus was responsible for commodities investment management.

In 2017, Rus co-founded CoinShares, a company related to digital assets. Later that year, they also took on the role of Director at GABI Ventures.

Throughout their career, Rus Newton has gained expertise in trading crude oil, managing commodities portfolios, and developing investment strategies in the commodities sector.

Rus Newton attended King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford from 1976 to 1983. Rus then pursued a bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences, with a concentration in Experimental Psychology, from the University of Cambridge from 1983 to 1986.
