Damian Wells has a diverse work experience spanning different sectors and roles. Damian currently holds the position of Managing Director at Coliban Water since August 2019. Additionally, they serve as the Chair of Zero Emissions Water from July 2022 onwards. Damian also has experience in the education sector, having served as the Chair of Bendigo Regional Advisory Board at La Trobe University since November 2019.
In the past, Damian had significant roles at the Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA), including Executive Director of Regulatory Capability, Engagement, and Legal Services from September 2018 to July 2019, and Executive Director of Regional Services from March 2015 to September 2018. Damian was responsible for statewide leadership, compliance, enforcement, emergency management, and major investigations.
Damian's experience in the nonprofit sector includes serving as a Non-Executive Director at Anglicare Victoria, the largest youth and family services organization in Victoria, from October 2014 to December 2017. Moreover, they held the position of CEO at the North Central Catchment Management Authority from July 2008 to February 2015.
Furthermore, Damian has contributed to the governance of St Lukes Anglicare as a Non-Executive Director from June 2009 to September 2014. Damian played a crucial role in the merger of St Lukes Anglicare with Anglicare Victoria.
Damian's early career involved various roles at Goulburn-Murray Water and Mallee Catchment Management Authority from January 2000 to 2007.
Damian Wells has an Honours Degree in Environmental Management from Flinders University, which they completed in 2000. In 2003, they attended the Australian Institute of Company Directors for a Company Director Course. In 2012, they participated in a residential short course on Strategic Negotiation at Harvard Business School. In 2018, Damian studied Managing regulation, enforcement, and compliance at The Australian and New Zealand School of Management. Damian also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Charles Sturt University, which they earned between 2005 and 2007.
