Mark R. Laret is a board member at Collective Health. Mark has previously served as the CEO of UCSF Medical Center, InStride, California Health Care Foundation, Viz.ai, and Regard. Mark has also been on the board of directors for UrgentMED, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, NovaSignal, SEMCAP, and Nuance Communications.

Laret has led an operational and financial turnaround of UCSF Medical Center following an unsuccessful 3-year merger with Stanford Hospital, bringing UCSF to be named a Top 10 U.S. hospital for 20+ consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report. Mark recruited new management team, created business advisory board, and developed strategic and operational plans for growth and improvements in medical quality and safety, patient experience, financial strength, and a rebuilt physical and IT infrastructure.

Laret has also been instrumental in expanding from a single hospital at UCSF Medical Center to create UCSF Health, a network of hospitals, physician groups and outpatient facilities across the entire Bay Area. Mark also founded and chaired the board of Canopy Health, a plan-to-plan health insurance company, partnered with United Healthcare and Health Net, with over $275 million in revenue. Under Laret's leadership, annual revenues grew 10x from $600 million in 2000 to $6 billion in 2021, outpatient care increased 5x from 600,000 to over 3 million visits per year, inpatient care doubled to an average daily census of more than 850, and the workforce tripled from under 5,000 to over 15,000.

Mark R. Laret graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Mark then attended the University of Southern California, where they earned a Master of Arts in Political Science.
