Christian Hales

Christian Hales is an accomplished bassist and educator currently serving as an Adjunct Professor of Bass at the College of Charleston since August 2023. As the Principal Bassist for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, involvement includes writing program notes for the Masterworks Series and collaborating with the development team to enhance donor relations, alongside participation on the finance and artistic committees. Experience encompasses substitute performances with prestigious institutions such as the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Ballet. In addition to performance, Christian has a background in writing and design, having held roles such as Program Notes Editor and Writer at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Graphic Designer at Creatably. Christian holds a Master of Music in String Bass from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Bass Performance, graduated Cum Laude with University Honors from Brigham Young University.
