Steve Kallies, CRSP, currently serves as the Senior Lead of Emergency Preparedness & Contractor Compliance at Elk Valley Resources since July 2024. With extensive experience at Teck Resources Limited since 2002, Kallies has held various roles including Mine Rescue Member/Officer, where responsibilities included overseeing a 60+ member Mine Rescue Program, and Supervisor of Health & Safety Compliance. Additionally, Kallies has been a District Councillor for the District of Sparwood and teaches Occupational Health & Safety courses at College of the Rockies. Previous experience includes Battalion Manager at Fernie Fire Rescue and Health & Safety Chairperson for the United Steelworkers. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency & Security Management at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Kallies has a substantial background in safety compliance, emergency response, and training in various sectors.
