Soraya Verjee

Soraya Verjee has a diverse work experience in the education and nonprofit sectors. Soraya began their career as an Associate Consultant at The Bridgespan Group, where they worked with various nonprofit organizations to help them develop strategies and align resources. Soraya then served as the Finance Manager at Envision Schools for a short period before joining KIPP New Orleans Schools as the Director of Recruitment and Strategic Planning. In this role, they established a talent recruitment system and supported the Executive Director in creating a business plan. Soraya also volunteered as a consultant at The Aga Khan Academies, conducting market analyses and analyzing teacher training and development pathways. Soraya later joined Teach for America as a Corps Member, teaching Algebra I to 9th graders and achieving the highest scores in the Recovery School District. Soraya then moved on to Collegiate Academies, where they held multiple roles, including Chief Talent Officer and Director of Human Capital. In these positions, they focused on talent acquisition, retention, and performance management, as well as leading advisory and coaching Girls Volleyball.

Soraya Verjee obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, completing their education from 2000 to 2004.
