Richard Babunovic

Richard Babunovic has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Richard started their career at Boeing in 1985 as a Flight Controls and Integration Engineer, where they worked on various Boeing programs and gained increasing responsibility. Richard later became an Engineering Project Manager, leading projects related to flight controls, product development, and commercial aircraft modifications.

In 2007, Richard transitioned to a managerial role at Boeing, where they served as the Manager of Systems Integration for the 747-8 program. Richard'sresponsibilities included change management, risk management, finance, and coordination with suppliers, contributing to the successful achievement of Amended Type Certification for the 747-8F and 747-8I.

Richard's next role at Boeing was as the Deputy Program Manager for Commercial Aviation Services, where they were responsible for the development of maintenance documents, training materials, spares provisioning, and digital airline services for the 737 MAX. Richard also led the development of the Statement of Work, cost, and schedule for the configuration changes on the 737 MAX.

In 2014, Richard became the Commercial Aircraft Retrofit Integration Manager, overseeing the development and execution of 787 and VIP interior and structure modifications. Richard managed a team of project managers and engineering operations specialists, focusing on project management best practices and technical content of engineering.

From 2015 to 2018, Richard took on the role of Manager in Airplane Product Development at Boeing, leading a team with a $17 million budget to develop and deploy new airplane features, passenger cabin architectures, and airline operational efficiency enablers. Richard also participated in industry forums and demonstrations to build momentum and explore opportunities.

In 2020, Richard worked as a Ski Instructor at Summit at Snoqualmie, and then at Crystal Mountain Resort in 2021. Richard served as the Committee Chairman for The Mountaineers from 2020 to 2022.

Most recently, in 2022, Richard joined Collinear Group as a Certification and Qualification SR. Engineer.

Richard Babunovic earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, from 1982 to 1985. Richard then pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington, from 1987 to 1991.
