So Young Kim is a seasoned professional in human systems integration and aerospace engineering, currently serving at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory since July 2017, where roles include NASA JPL Point of Contact for Human Systems Integration, Mars Sample Return Sample Retrieval Lander Spacecraft Systems Engineer, and Section Chief Engineer. So Young Kim leads the JPL SW Strategy Working Group, focusing on strategic planning and organizational transformation through a human-centered design philosophy. Previous experience includes serving as Group Supervisor for Human Systems Integration, Mission Modeling Lead for the Europa Lander project, and Senior Lead Designer, executing user experience initiatives and developing augmented reality tools for spacecraft systems. Prior to NASA, So Young Kim worked at GE Global Research, where responsibilities included leading UX research and design projects, and gained foundational research experience at Georgia Institute of Technology, culminating in a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. Education also includes an MS in Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor's in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Chung-Ang University.
