Tony Byrd

Tony Byrd currently serves as the Superintendent for the Summit School District and is also involved with The Colorado Education Initiative as part of the Rural Superintendent Academy. Previously, Tony Byrd held the position of Executive Director at Teach For America from July 2016 to June 2022 and worked as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Washington, Bothell, where leadership was taught to aspiring principals. Between July 2013 and July 2016, Tony Byrd was the Associate Superintendent for Curriculum, Assessment, and Special Programs at Everett Public Schools, overseeing all academic programs. Prior experience includes roles at the Edmonds School District as Assistant Superintendent and Principal, where strategic initiatives focused on student learning and achievement gaps. Early career achievements included leading a California Distinguished School as Principal in the Cambrian School District. Tony Byrd holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Washington and multiple degrees from Stanford University and Bucknell University.
