Ian Fowler

Mountain Guide at Colorado Mountain School

Ian Fowler is an experienced outdoor professional with a strong background in guiding and instructing individuals in various environments. Currently serving as an Avalanche Forecaster at the Colorado Avalanche Information Center since October 2021, Ian has also been a Mountain Guide with the Colorado Mountain School since 2011 and a Ski Patrol member at Eldora since 2008. In addition, Ian has worked as a Climbing Supervisor/Consultant for Avid4 Adventure since 2006 and co-founded Back-Up New Zealand, which focused on rehabilitation for people with disabilities through outdoor activities, from 2003 to 2005. Earlier, Ian served as an Adaptive Outdoor Instructor at the Lake District Calvert Trust and worked as an Outdoor Pursuits Instructor at the University of Birmingham. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Birmingham and an IFMGA certification in Alpine, Ski, and Rock Guiding from the American Mountain Guides Association.
