Douglas Putney is a highly experienced professional with a diverse background in military training, law enforcement, and firearms instruction. Currently serving as a Reserve Police Officer with the Colorado Rangers since April 2019, Douglas holds POST certification and functions as a firearms instructor, supporting over 70 law enforcement agencies across Colorado. Previously, Douglas has worked as a Defensive Pistol Instructor and has extensive experience with Northrop Grumman Technical Services, where roles included Course Manager and Military Trainer, specializing in various joint operational courses and military analytics. Douglas also served as a Doctrine Analyst for the LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education, and held several significant positions within the United States Air Force, including Director of Academics, Air Liaison Officer, and Chief of C2 Systems Integration. With advanced degrees in Management from Central Michigan University and Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, Douglas combines military expertise with educational proficiency.

The Colorado Rangers Law Enforcement Shared Reserve (CLER) was formed as a statewide government and P.O.S.T. Certified Law Enforcement Agency supporting 61 Law Enforcement agencies and governments throughout Colorado. CLER operates under the original 1861 agency name of Colorado Rangers with Colonel Ronald Abramson as Agency Chief.
