Dr. Benjamin de Kock

Double Bass, Substitute at Colorado Symphony

Dr. Benjamin de Kock serves as an Instructional Assistant Professor at Illinois since August 2020 and has held the position of Affiliate Professor at Regis University since August 2019. A prominent figure in the classical music scene, Dr. de Kock has been the principal double bassist for the San Juan Symphony and Colorado Bach Ensemble since 2015, while also performing as a guest musician with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. With extensive experience as a professional double bassist, including substitute work with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra since 2007, Dr. de Kock offers private and group instruction and acts as a music arranger while remaining active as a national performer. Previously, Dr. de Kock was a Professor of Double Bass at Colorado State University for one year and contributed to El Sistema USA in various roles from 2015 to 2018. Dr. de Kock's educational background includes a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Double Bass from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor's of Music in Music Performance from the University of Cincinnati.
