Dr. Brandi Cantarel is a leader in bioinformatics. For over 15 years, she has been involved in projects that utilize sequence technology to understand human health, often on the forefront of an emerging field or technology. She leads bioinformatics development of next-generation sequence (NGS) data, including genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics in rare/complex genetic diseases, immunology, infectious disease and cancer. She has applied precision medicine research in a CAP/CLIA setting, with the development of tools for tumor mutational profiling. In 2020, Brandi was named a Highly Cited Researcher by Web of Science. Prior, Brandi was a faculty member at the UT Southwester Medical Center, Department of Bioinformatics and at the University of Maryland, Institute for Genome Sciences.
Brandi has a PhD from the University of Virginia, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics and a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

At Colossal Biosciences, we endeavor to jumpstart nature’s ancestral heartbeat. To see the woolly mammoth thunder upon the tundra once again. To advance the economics of biology and nutrition. To make humanity more human. And to reawaken the lost wilds of Earth. So we, and our planet can breathe easier. These things, which were not achievable before, are now. In our laboratories. Through our breakthroughs in CRISPR and genetic engineering. We are leading the new charge of bioscience. We accept the responsibility. And we can see the light at the end of it all.
