Dan Burns

Dan Burns has a strong background in the fitness and health club industry. Dan started their career at Sport & Health in 1991, where they served as Group General Manager, overseeing operations and improving retention and profitability. In 2006, they joined Club One as General Manager, implementing sales and retention strategies and achieving significant revenue growth. Dan then moved up to Regional General Manager, Director of Community and Medical Fitness Centers, and ultimately Vice President of Operations, where they led various business units and implemented new processes. In 2014, Dan briefly worked as a District Manager at In-Shape Health Clubs before becoming self-employed as a consultant. Most recently, they joined Columbia Association in 2015 as Director of Sport & Fitness before being promoted to Vice President, Community Programs & Services. In this role, they provide strategic and operational leadership for a diverse range of programs and services, overseeing a large team and generating substantial revenue.

Dan Burns attended Penn State University from 1987 to 1991, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.

The Columbia Association (CA) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit service corporation that manages Columbia, MD., a master planned community that is home to approx. 100,000 people and several thousand businesses. In addition to enhancing the Columbia community through several recreational, cultural and community services and programs, CA also manages the short and long-term needs of the community including master planning support for our village centers, storm water management, long-range aquatics master planning, and improving connectivity and walkability.
