Monica McMellon-Ajayi, MS, SHRM-SCP, serves as the Director of HR, Diversity & Inclusion at Columbia Association since February 2019, contributing to strategic planning and enhancing the organization's human resources function with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and business operations. Prior experience includes serving as Principal Consultant at Mid-Atlantic HR Advisory Services, Director of Human Resources at Edifice Solutions, and HR Business Partner at Tribune Online Content. Monica's extensive background in human resources also encompasses roles at the American Nurses Association, The McClatchy Company, and Cigna-HealthSpring, where leadership in talent development, employee relations, and strategic alignment with organizational goals was demonstrated. Monica holds a Master's degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Rowan University.

The Columbia Association (CA) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit service corporation that manages Columbia, MD., a master planned community that is home to approx. 100,000 people and several thousand businesses. In addition to enhancing the Columbia community through several recreational, cultural and community services and programs, CA also manages the short and long-term needs of the community including master planning support for our village centers, storm water management, long-range aquatics master planning, and improving connectivity and walkability.
