Colbey Emmerson Reid

Colbey Emmerson Reid serves as the Director of the School of Fashion and Department Chair of Fashion Studies at Columbia College Chicago, where responsibilities include growing enrollment, improving retention, managing curricular changes, fundraising, and establishing academic-industry partnerships through a Fashion Lab. Previous experience includes serving as the Director of the Consumer Innovation Consortium at NC State University, where Colbey directed consumer research projects, taught graduate coursework, and coordinated international programs. At York College of Pennsylvania, Colbey held the position of Associate Professor, focusing on academic research and undergraduate teaching, while also serving in leadership roles on various committees. Colbey began the academic career as a Lecturer at the University of Washington. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature from the University of Washington and Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Literature and French Language and Literature from the University of Florida, along with ongoing studies in philosophy and cultural studies at Cornell University.
