Joe Lucas

Joe Lucas has extensive law enforcement experience, currently serving as Chief Deputy at the Columbia County Sheriff's Office since March 2016, overseeing operations, civil matters, investigations, detention, patrol, and administration. Prior to this role, Joe served as a Captain at Columbia County Sheriffs from April 2012, managing the detention facility and ensuring the safety, security, and control of inmates while contributing to policy development and daily operations. Joe also held the position of Captain in the investigation division, where responsibilities included assigning and assisting with cases, including cold case homicides, and managing day-to-day operations. Joe's background in law enforcement is supported by education from the Basic Law Enforcement program (1991), Basic Corrections Academy (1986-1987), and Gwynn Park High School (1979-1981).
