Mazen Alsafi is an experienced professional currently serving as Co-Director of Northside Futures in Syracuse, NY, focusing on community-led public health and safety initiatives. Previously an intern at Justice Capital, Mazen engaged in community outreach, enhancing local resources. As a researcher for the Columbia University Action Lab, Mazen addresses anti-Black racism within the School of Social Work, while also leading the Operating Committee at the Columbia Organization of Rising Entrepreneurs, promoting student entrepreneurship. Mazen has a creative background as the founder of Abolish, a platform for underrepresented creatives, and served as Creative Director for Barriers Worldwide, promoting Black history through clothing. Additionally, Mazen has experience as a fashion model with DNA Model Management and Bri’geid Agency, and has conducted data analysis for the Vera Institute of Justice. Mazen's educational background includes a degree in Sociology and African American Studies from Columbia University, complemented by a high school diploma from the Institute of Technology At Syracuse Central.
