Michael Sheehan is a dedicated aerospace engineering student at Columbia University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from 2021 to 2025. Currently, Michael serves as the Co-Lead for Columbia Rocketry, overseeing a team of over 60 students in the research and development of a hybrid rocket for competition. Previously, Michael held various roles within Columbia Rocketry, including Propulsion Systems Engineer and Propulsion Systems Co-Lead, where leadership of a 15-student group focused on the design and development of propulsion subsystems was key. Michael gained valuable industry experience as a Raptor Manufacturing Engineering Intern at SpaceX during the summers of 2023 and 2024. Additionally, an undergraduate researcher position at the Columbia Creative Machines Lab involved investigating novel laser curing techniques for carbon fiber structures relevant to space payload designs. Prior educational achievements include participation in the highly selective MOSTEC Summer Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the prestigious SAMS Summer Program at Carnegie Mellon University. Michael graduated from West Hempstead High School in 2021.
