Amy Handra has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of education and the arts. Amy has held several leadership roles in various organizations over the years. Starting in 2002, Amy worked as a Teacher and Drama Program Director at Kettering City Schools, where they increased enrollment in Drama classes by 50% in just two years. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as an Actor, Director, and Workshop Leader at Landmark Children's Theatre Company. In 2008, they served as an Adjunct Faculty and Guest Artist at Sinclair Community College. Amy then joined The University of Alabama in 2009 as a Teacher of Record and Graduate Teaching Assistant. Amy managed a company of over 150 artists as the Company Manager at The Colorado Shakespeare Festival from 2011 to 2013. Following that, Amy played a crucial role in event planning, coordination, and educational programming as the Coordinator of Education and Engagement at Dayton Live from June to December 2016. Amy was then promoted to the position of Director of Education and Engagement at Dayton Live from December 2016 to July 2018, where they created innovative programming, advocated for inclusion and access within the arts, and coordinated various events and activities. Currently, Amy is the Director of Education at CAPA-Columbus Association for the Performing Arts, a role they have held since 2018. Lastly, Amy obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Theatre with an Acting Emphasis from The University of Alabama, studying from 2009 to 2012.
