Jim Barss

Jim has been working at Comfortex for more than 25 years. He is the company’s Vice President of Operations, responsible for all aspects of production, purchasing, warehousing, maintenance and engineering, including product development. Prior to working for Comfortex Jim was an engineering supervisor at Ball Corporation and Quad Graphics in Saratoga Springs, NY.

In his role as VP of Operations, Jim manages all aspects of manufacturing and fabrication. He holds over a dozen patents for his role in inventing some of Comfortex’s most important products, including several types of cordless systems for cellular and sheer shades, various production machines, including Odysee and Color Lux manufacturing systems. Most importantly, Jim is singularly responsible for conceiving, developing and managing Comfortex’s Production-On-Demand technology, which enables the entire Color Lux platform of individually producing cellular, roller, sheer shades as well as draperies, cornices and soft romans in thousands of patterns and colors, involving minimal inventory and producing near zero fabric scrap.
