Serena Chaudhry Pandey

Serena Chaudhry Pandey has a diverse and extensive work experience. Serena is currently the Head of Communications, EMEA & APAC at commercetools, where they lead Corporate Communications and Public Relations. Serena also oversees Social Media and supports internal communications, including the Diversity and Inclusion program.

Prior to their current role, Serena worked at Dataminr, where they held multiple positions. Serena started as a Video Journalist at Reuters News Agency, where they established and ran Reuters Caption Video. Serena also acted as a Senior UK producer, responsible for all of Reuters TV coverage in the UK and Ireland.

Serena has also worked as an Editor for Africa Journal at Reuters, where they covered a wide range of topics related to Africa. During their time there, they also served as a Speaker and Moderator at conferences and events worldwide.

Additionally, Serena has experience as a Public Speaker, focusing on areas such as AI, technology, diversity and inclusion, wellness, journalism and media, international affairs, and war. Serena has been regularly invited to be a panel chair, moderator, or speaker at conferences and events globally.

Serena's career also includes roles at Thomson Reuters Foundation and BBC News. At Thomson Reuters Foundation, they worked as a Journalist, reporting on issues including slavery and human trafficking, women's rights, and climate and resilience. At BBC News, they were a Broadcast Journalist, working on flagship news programs and covering major stories such as the passing of Nelson Mandela.

Earlier in their career, Serena served as an Iraq Correspondent for Reuters, covering the Iraq war, and as a Southern Africa Correspondent, reporting on significant political and economic stories, including the rise of Jacob Zuma and the FIFA Football World Cup.

Serena Chaudhry Pandey obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Rhodes University from 2003 to 2006. Before that, they attended Redhill School in 2002. In terms of additional certifications, they received training in various areas including AI, problem solving, productivity, time management, leadership, and communication skills. Serena also completed courses in integrated marketing communication strategies and management foundations through LinkedIn. Serena has further certifications in coaching, change management, crucial conversations, stress management, and hostile environment training.
