Greg Bruening has over 10 years of work experience in the fields of front-end development, web design, and graphic design. Greg currently works at Common App as a Senior Front-End Developer, where they develop and maintains clean HTML and CSS for their Angular applications. Greg also leads projects for a centralized design system and ensures accessibility solutions align with guidelines. In addition, Greg mentors junior developers and collaborates with Product and UX teams. Prior to their current role, Greg worked as a Front-End Developer at Fortitude Systems, where they focused on providing semantic and accessible HTML and CSS for an educational non-profit. Before that, they worked at LookThink as a Front-End Web Developer, where they contributed to discussions on following standards and creating high-quality work. Greg also worked as a Web Designer and Graphic Designer at LookThink, where they assisted with mockups, front-end development, and maintenance of client websites.
Greg Bruening, CPWA, holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the University of Lynchburg, which they obtained between 2006 and 2011. In addition to their formal education, Greg has also obtained three certifications from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP): Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA), Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS), and Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC). Greg obtained the CPACC certification in August 2020, followed by the CPWA and WAS certifications in December 2021.
