Miriam Hancock

Miriam Hancock has a diverse work history, starting with their most recent position as a Senior User Experience Designer at Common App since December 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a User Experience Designer at Common App from April 2020 to November 2022. Before their roles as a designer, Miriam was a Creative Associate Manager at Common App from October 2018 to April 2020, where they coordinated and executed timelines for presenters at Common App events. Miriam also worked as a Content and Training Strategist at Common App from January 2016 to October 2018, creating resources for counselors, teachers, and applicants, and overseeing tutorial video production. Miriam began their career as a Solutions Analyst at Common App from September 2015 to January 2016, where they resolved issues regarding applications and recommendations.

Prior to their work at Common App, Miriam worked for GetOpenWater as a Marketing Coordinator from June 2014 to August 2015, where they developed and executed inbound marketing strategies. Before that, they worked as a Marketing & Sales Assistant at GetOpenWater from December 2013 to June 2014, assisting in content creation and identifying new business opportunities. Miriam also gained experience as a Technical Sales Service Intern at MeadWestvaco from September 2012 to September 2013.

In addition to their professional roles, Miriam has worked as a Scenic Painter at UVA Drama Department from August 2010 to May 2012 and as an Editorial Assistant at Status Hat Artzine from June 2011 to August 2011.

Miriam Hancock received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Language and Literature, General, from the University of Virginia, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. In addition to their undergraduate degree, Miriam holds a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education, which they obtained in May 2021. Miriam also completed the Design 101 Course at Designlab in September 2017.
