Senior Director of Association Engagement at Common App

Scott Anderson has a strong background in education and college admissions. Scott has held various roles throughout their career, starting as an Admissions Counselor at Vassar College in 1993. Scott then worked as an Associate Director of Admission at Cornell University, where they were responsible for recruitment and yield activities in several states. In 2000, they joined Mercersburg Academy as an Associate Director of College Counseling.

In 2006, they became the Director of College Guidance at St. George's Independent School, where they established the college guidance curriculum and provided leadership to the entire school community.

Scott then transitioned to the non-profit sector, joining the Common App in 2009 as the Director of Outreach. In this role, they oversaw college access initiatives and counselor professional development. Scott later became the Senior Director of Access and Education, where they managed the Education and Training team and led new member recruitment activities. Scott also played a key role in navigating organizational transitions and advising the Board of Directors during the absence of a chief executive.

Most recently, Scott has served as the Senior Director of Association Engagement at Common App. In this position, they have been responsible for leading the acquisition and integration of former First Lady Michele Obama's Reach Higher campaign. Scott has also played a crucial role in serving the organization's member colleges and universities, college applicants, counselors, and teachers. Scott Anderson attended the University of Virginia from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English Language and Literature, General. Following this, they pursued higher education at the University of Vermont from 1995 to 1997, earning a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration.
