Vice President, Student Success at Common App

Stephanie Owens is an experienced professional with a diverse work history. Stephanie currently holds the position of Vice President, Student Success at Common App, where they are responsible for implementing the strategic vision of Student Success. This includes coordinating internal and external efforts, managing education priorities, overseeing social media activations, event planning, and stakeholder outreach. Stephanie has also held positions at the U.S. Department of Education, where they served as the Deputy Director of First Lady Michelle Obama's Reach Higher Initiative. In this role, they acted as a liaison between the White House and the Department of Education, advised the First Lady on education policy issues, and represented the Department at conferences and meetings.

Stephanie'sprevious experience includes roles at Rock the Vote, Alliance for Excellent Education, and The School District of Philadelphia, where they gained valuable skills in field organizing, research, policy, and project management.

Stephanie Owens completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in American Government and Politics (United States) from the University of Maryland, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. Following that, they pursued a Master of Government Administration with a focus on Politics and Public Policy at the University of Pennsylvania from 2004 to 2006. In May 2021, Stephanie obtained a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
