Ann Chen

Director at Common Sense Media

Ann Chen is an independent consultant focused on education and nonprofits. She was a partner at Bain & Company and retired in 2013 after 22 years with the firm. Most of that time was spent in Hong Kong, where she lived for 19 years. Ann is now based in the Bay Area and continues to provide consulting to a select group of organizations that are making an impact in education.

Ann serves on the board of Common Sense, advocating digital literacy and safe technology use on behalf of children. She is a trustee on the board of Reading Partners, a volunteer literacy program covering 11,000 students in underserved cities. Ann is currently serving as board chair at the Town School for Boys, a K–8 boys' school in San Francisco. She is also a director on the board of the Corporation of Yaddo, the country's oldest artists' residency program.

Ann has a B.S.E. in computer science from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She is a current member of the Dean's Advisory Council at Princeton and at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Ann is married to a business school classmate and has a teenage son. Her family spends time at sporting events and traveling to new places.
