Yuval Nirkin, PhD

Yuval Nirkin, PhD, has held various positions over the years. Yuval is currently a Principal Research Scientist at CommonGround-AI since September 2021. Previously, they were the Co-Founder & CTO of DeepNen from March 2018 to September 2021.

Prior to that, from October 2015 to April 2017, they worked as a Computer Vision Researcher at The Open University of Israel. There, they were a member of the USC's research team and focused on face recognition in challenging conditions using machine learning, face segmentation, face augmentation, and face swapping techniques.

From January 2014 to October 2015, they were the Co-Founder & CTO of Ogmenti, where they developed technology for seamless integration of augmented reality in the perceived environment using a single RGB camera and IMU configuration. This technology included real-time simultaneous localization and mapping on mobile devices.

Before their work in academia and startups, from April 2010 to September 2013, Yuval Nirkin served as a Software Engineer in the Israel Defense Forces.

Yuval Nirkin, PhD, completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Engineering from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2010. Following this, they pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science from The Open University of Israel, which they obtained from 2012 to 2016. Currently, Yuval is working towards their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering at Bar-Ilan University, which they are expected to complete by 2022.
