Carolyn Fado is an accomplished educator and leader in English and writing instruction, currently serving as the English and Writing Department Chair and Teacher at Commonwealth Academy since August 2022. Recognized as one of 12 teachers nationwide by the 2023 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Carolyn specializes in teaching a neurodiverse student population to develop their writing skills across various genres. Prior experience includes roles as an AP-English-For-All Special Education Teacher and a Bilingual Special Education Teacher with the District of Columbia Public Schools, where Carolyn co-taught AP English and implemented inclusive educational strategies. Additional experience includes a Fulbright ETA position in Bulgaria, where Carolyn founded a speech and debate team, and roles in science writing and editing. Carolyn holds a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature and French from The College of Wooster.
