Tim Jacobs

Tim Jacobs has over 20 years of work experience in the field of information security and IT management. Tim is currently serving as the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Commonwealth Care Alliance since July 2021.

Prior to this role, Tim worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts from 2016 to 2021, where they held several positions including Senior Director of Information Security Governance and Emerging Technologies, Director of Information Security Governance and Emerging Technologies, and Director of Information Security. In these roles, Tim was responsible for transforming the Identity and Access Management function, developing information security programs, obtaining certifications, and producing new IT Security policies and standards.

Before their tenure at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tim worked at IBM from 2002 to 2016. During their time at IBM, they held various managerial positions such as Senior Manager of Global IT Security Compliance, Senior Manager of Enterprise Transformation, Manager of Enterprise On Demand Transformation and IT Business Controls, Senior Program Manager of IT Infrastructure Security and Data Privacy, and Audit Team Leader in the Corporate IT Internal Audit department. In these roles, Tim was involved in global compliance initiatives, infrastructure and compliance oversight, risk assessment and management, and IT service delivery assessments.

Tim's earlier work experience includes a role as an Operations Analyst at Welch's Foods from 1999 to 2000, where they improved operations and streamlined IT security, and as an Applications Consultant at MEDITECH - Medical Information Technology, Inc. from 1997 to 1999, where they contributed to software update processes and provided applications training and support.

Overall, Tim Jacobs has a strong background in information security, IT management, compliance, and risk assessment, and has demonstrated leadership in transforming and improving IT functions in various organizations.

Tim Jacobs obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the years 1992 to 1996. Tim later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Global Technology Management from the Bentley University - McCallum Graduate School of Business from 2000 to 2002. Additionally, they obtained certifications as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)2 in 2006, and as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in May 2004.
